Program Description
If you’ve been wanting to start strength training and learn the major compound lifts like deadlifts, barbell squats, and bench press, but aren’t sure where to begin, this program is for you!
This is an educational program first and a workout second. Yes! You’ll sweat, move, and get stronger each week, but the true focus is on building a solid foundation.
We’ll teach you the basics of form, body mechanics, and gym confidence so you understand why you’re doing something, not just how. You’ll learn to feel safe under a barbell, troubleshoot common issues, and develop the skills that make lifting sustainable for life. The workouts are designed to reinforce your learning, not overwhelm you, so you leave each session better equipped than when you walked in.
You’ll learn how to understand RPE (Rate of Perceived Exertion), design balanced workouts, use a variety of free-weight equipment, and create training plans that actually make sense. This program uses free weights only, helping you build the confidence to walk into any gym and know exactly what to do.
Over six weeks, you’ll learn the foundations of safe, effective lifting with hands-on support from Jessi Talbot and Michael Trim, who bring backgrounds in personal training, massage therapy, anatomy, physiology, and years of experience coaching and lifting. You can feel confident knowing you’re in good hands. The class size is small, so it’s like having a personal trainer but at an affordable rate.
You’ll be training alongside a small group of 10 people, which we hope makes the program feel supportive, fun, and community-oriented! (We’ve got some killer playlists as well)
If you have injuries, movement restrictions, or specific concerns, we’ll work with you so you feel empowered and supported.
By the end, you’ll have the knowledge and confidence to lift safely, create your own programs, use equipment properly, and build long-term strength, longevity, and pain-free movement.
All bodies and all levels are welcome.
Sliding scale breakdown
To keep this program accessible while still paying ourselves fairly, we use a sliding-scale pricing model. Below, you’ll see what each tier covers. These breakdowns are written as if all 10 participants paid the same tier, so you can clearly understand what that tier makes possible.
This doesn’t mean everyone is paying the same amount, it simply shows the level of support each tier provides. Some tiers cover only the basic costs of running the program, while higher tiers help pay for our time outside the sessions (program design, communication, admin, cleanup) and allow us to offer lower-cost spots to others.
It’s a transparent way to show you what your payment contributes to, and it lets you choose the tier that matches your current financial situation while keeping the program sustainable for us to run!
$180 ($15 per class) pays for studio rental and pays both trainers for sessions + clean up @ $30 an hour.
